Our history
Officine Ambrogio Melesi, experience and competence in the name of tradition and continuous innovation for 100 years.
1914
In 1914 the Melesi and Selva families founded Officine Melesi & Selva in Cortabbio of Primaluna in Valsassina (Lecco). From the manufacturing of agricultural tools to the production of forged products, the company is deeply connected to the history of an area that has traditionally built its industrial strength on metalworking.
1946
The two Melesi and Selva families splitted up and Ambrogio Melesi founded Officine Ambrogio Melesi & C Srl in Cortenova, specialising in the production of agricultural forks and tips of shuttles for the textile industry.
1950 - 1970
Beginning of the first production of flanges addressed to the emerging chemical and petrochemical industry in Italy in the post-world war years. The production of traditional products also continued in parallel, then abandoned in the early 80s.
1969

1980 – 1990
The early 80s were difficult years due to the loss of family members who held vital roles in the company. First CNC lathes were introduced, along with the installation of a 2.500 ton stamping press, a 1.200-ton hydraulic press and a horizontal rolling mill and order management became computerized.
1991-1998
In 1993 a 35.000 kgm counterblow hammer was installed, which completed the range of the offer, allowing penetration into new markets. The quality management system received ISO 9001 certification.
1999
Demand drops drastically.
2000 - 2010
In the first decade of the New Millennium, heavy investments were made in Cortenova with the activation of two new mechanical presses of 6.300 and 4.000 tons, two hydraulic presses of 2.500 and 5.000 tons, three rolling mills (two horizontal and one vertical), a 40.000 kgm counterblow hammer, a milling-boring machine for large components and an innovative automatic warehouse for the storage of raw material. Qualified technical expertise and service flexibility positioned Melesi among the leaders in the sector.
2010 - 2020
In this decade, the company's strategy focused on product diversification and expanding into new market sectors. In 2012, two new production sites adjacent to the headquarters in Cortenova were acquired, increasing the total area by 60.000 sqm. In 2017, an additional 5.000 sqm were acquired in Introbio for what will become the RPI Division.
